The 80's ;) !

The 80's. A helluva decade!
I really wasn't sure what to talk about my first time out. So I thought and thought. Then realized, hey, this is my site, its not news...it's just my thoughts and BS. So I decided to talk about the 80's a little. I love the 80's. (to rip off Vh1) Lots of great things came from the 80's. Great music came from the 80's. Come on. You know when that cheesy 80's song pops on the radio you turn it up and jam along. Even if you have to roll the windows up first. Great movies came from the 80's. Movies such as Ghostbusters. (We'll dive into my obsession with Ghostbusters a little later) Hell, even my wife and I came from the 80's. Can't get much cooler than that for me at least.
I'm sure we all have that decade, that, if we had the chance, would love to revisit. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't change a thing. I like where I am. I love my wife...I love my daughter...I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize not having them as part of my life. But to even just go back and replay it...exactly how it was, would be just kick ass!
We had great toys in the 80's. Not only that...we had metal toys! Not like today where everything is plastic. We had metal Tonka trucks. We had dangerous toys with many small pieces; And we loved it! Today everyone is sue happy and paranoid cause their kids are gonna get hurt. It happens. We got the crap beat out of us. But we made it through. I wouldn't hesitate to let my kid play with some of those toys. They're gonna get bumps and bruises. That's just being a kid.
The movies back then were a different breed. They were funny. The technology for the time was new and cutting edge. My all time favorite, Ghostbusters, actually features effects the likes of no one had seen to that point. (That's not my opinion, that's true) The comedy was actually funny. Movies like Spaceballs, A Christmas Story, The Blues Brothers. The list goes on and on. Not just comedy, but horror, action, sci fi. We all know of them. We all have our favorites.
Then there's me. Born in 82, sure, the first couple years may be hazy, but I remember a good majority of it. My wife came along in 85. There's another reason it rocks. She's the perfect match for me. We make each other laugh. We take each others crap. Best of all...she lets me be me...in all my weirdness. (Once again my obsession with Ghostbusters) She doesn't care. She just loves me. That my friends, is why the 80's is one helluva decade!
What's your favorite decade? ;)

  1. Good first post and I would have to agree about the 80's. The movies were some of my favorite I mean look at all the movies from the 80's that they are remaking today. It seems like we have just run out of new ideas.
